Today Mark drove up to the Colombian Embassy and was able to get the visa. He arrived 1 hour and 15 minutes earlier than 1:45 so the representative that processes visas made him sit and wait until 1:45 on the dot. We accidently gave the embassy more paperwork then we needed to regarding Amaya Fernanda and the representative would not give it back to Mark. Mark called our agency and was going to pass the phone to guy at the embassy and he simply said "NO! I'm not talking to anybody." Thankfully Mark was able to convince the guy to give him back our first picture of our daughter sent by ICBF. Mark was fuming but what could he really do? He said he felt like he was being punished for something. Might I mention that the Consul was standing right next to representative the whole time and he never intervened or said ANYTHING???? All I can say is good luck to the next group of families that need to process their visas through the embassy in Los Angeles.
So our travel day countdown is 18 days! Can you believe it....we are in the teens!? Alejandra is keeping track on a handmade calendar we made. Every day we color in one more square. We now have everything we need for travel and to meet Amaya Fernanda...FINALLY!
Yay!!! congratulations! We tried to slip in the USCIS office earlier than scheduled, because we heard that "sometimes" you can just walk in, was told by the office they "may or may not see you." No such luck. We have to wait until May 10th to get the fingerprints, and then wait for the approval... seems like forever! compared to our first adoption...
